IPv4 exhaustion in the LACNIC region
11 Jun 2014
LACNIC yesterday announced that it had reached its last /10 (4 million) block of IPv4 addresses and IPv4 could now be considered exhaustion in South America and the Caribbean. This is yet another indication that IPv4 has almost run out globally – the announcement from LACNIC means that three of the five RIRs have now exhausted their free address pools. LACNIC also expressed concerns with the pace of IPv6 deployment in the region, which is needed to ensure there are enough IP addresses for all connected devices around the world.
